Educating

Within my Pharmacists’ CPD (Continuing Professional Development) services, my areas of expertise in educating healthcare professionals include polypharmacy, deprescribing, multi-morbidity, person-centred care and shared decision making in the care of older people.

I provide pharmacists’ CPD which integrates my clinical areas of practice in the care of older people with ‘soft skills’, using person-centred approaches to achieve optimal care. Person-centred care involves actively listening to and exploring your patient’s views to create a collaborative care plan, which can evolve over multiple consultations. Person-centred care considers the health outcome that the patient is looking for, not just from a medical perspective, but from an emotional, cultural and social perspective.

Pharmacists’ CPD provides many benefits

People who attend my teaching groups and workshops will learn to embed a person-centred approach in the heart of their daily practice, whatever the length of their consultation. Participants learn to integrate the best available evidence with patients’ circumstances, goals, values and wishes, alongside their clinical judgement, to deliver safe, efficient, effective care.

I can deliver training face-to-face or online, in workshop or webinar format. My seminars, lectures and workshops are suitable for private and public healthcare professionals, social care workers and patients.

What my clients say:

`Nina delivered an excellent webinar on Structured Medication Reviews [2020].  It was really popular, with over 200 attendees and received great feedback. Nina was extremely reliable and personable to work with, providing her slides in a timely fashion and responding quickly to queries sent in after the webinar.  I look forward to working with her again in future.’

Sue Smith, Head of Education NICE Medicines and Prescribing Associate, PresQIPP CIC UK.

‘I have been privileged to have the good fortune to work with Nina, a respected national leader in Pharmacy education and with whom I have also developed a meaningful and lasting relationship. For the past two years [2018-2020], we have collaborated to bring live and on-demand educational resources to pharmacists across Europe on topics such as medicines adherence, polypharmacy, deprescribing and medications reviews, supporting person-centred pharmaceutical care. I have experienced first-hand through working with Nina that it is possible to be a leader of her calibre without having a “sense of entitlement”, and her versatile and flexible working style leaves me in anticipation of an opportunity to work with her again in future.’

`MORPh Training has been fortunate to have worked with Nina on many occasions both face to face and on webinars [since 2019]. Her experience and professionalism shine through by the many anecdotes which bring the clinical and patient factors together which makes learning so much more enjoyable and memorable. Her sheer passion for the training and improving patient care means our delegates and myself were thoroughly engaged throughout our 2-hour webinar.

`Nina has now inspired hundreds of practice pharmacists to think about their interpersonal and consultation style when dealing with frail older patients. Everyone leaves a session with Nina feeling more confident and more patient-centred. Nina strikes the perfect balance between being an educator, a coach and a role-model.’

Shailen Rao, Managing Director, Soar Beyond i2i Network

`Nina has an amazing ability to value the contributions of the multidisciplinary team maximising individual performance.

I have worked with Nina Barnett for over twenty years. Nina had a thirst for knowledge and liked being up to date on the latest issues from a pharmacy perspective. Nina was always patient focussed and did one to one patient teaching sessions about the medication they were taking, taking an interest in each individual patient. Nina is a genuinely valued professional, supportive of others, knowledgeable in her field and someone who goes above and beyond if a situation requires it. She takes pleasure in supporting others to progress and succeed.’
