Testimonials: Coaching

I’ve worked with Nina over the last 12 months [since 2019] and have found our one-to-one sessions to be inspiring and insightful. The sessions were extremely beneficial as I made the leap into the next phase of my career. Nina has helped further develop my leadership abilities and supported me to unlock a number of challenging situations. I always come away from our sessions with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm, able to view challenges from a completely new perspective. I would highly recommend.

Testimonials: Educating

Nina has worked with us on various projects over the past few years [2018 onwards], one of which was shortlisted for an HSJ Patient Safety Award. Nina brings and an outcome desired focus coupled with a nurturing approach that has greatly developed our staff beyond the project objectives.

Chetan Shah, Chief Pharmacist, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust

We have worked with Nina for the last three years [since 2017] on our i2i Network frailty programme for clinical pharmacists and Nina has now inspired hundreds of practice pharmacists to think about their interpersonal and consultation style when dealing with frail older patients. Everyone leaves a session with Nina feeling more confident and more patient-centred. Nina strikes the perfect balance between being an educator, a coach and a role-model.

Testimonials: Pharmacy mentoring

Nina is a fantastic mentor; I found her feedback very useful and effective. Our sessions together [2015-2019]  helped teach me to improve my consultation skills to ensure I undertake shared-decision making with patients. During my undergraduate degree and through my pharmacy career, I wasn’t taught how to deal with the emotional impact patient consultations can have, Nina supported me with this, which enabled me to become more confident within my role”

Testimonials: Clinical work in care of older people

Over the past 15yrs [since 2003] I have worked with Nina Barnett on a range of service development and quality improvement programmes. Educationally this has included developing initiatives around End of Life Care and prescribing mainly across the primary / secondary interface as well as interdisciplinary community collaboration. Much of this work has subsequently been published reflecting Nina’s drive to share best practice. In service delivery we have collaborated on projects that have set up multidisciplinary Care Home Support Teams as well as a Community Matron programme work that again has been recognised within and outside our locality.

Nina has an amazing ability to value the contributions of the multidisciplinary team maximising individual performance. She works incredibly hard to ensure the final product is fit for purpose then closes the look to learn and share best practice. Her academic rigor is well respected from within her own professional body and by the NHS more widely.

Nina’s mentoring and facilitation skills are central to her impressive tool box which she employs to effect change. Most importantly Nina has a healthy respect for professional boundaries  but is also prepared to challenge if this is necessary and certainly if it is in patients best interest. More importantly such challenge often goes “unnoticed” as part of her impressive facilitation skills.

Nina is in her own right an accomplished clinician with vast experience of working with older people and multidisciplinary teams both in the community and within the secondary and tertiary environment. Nina has advised on policy at a local, regional and national level in this respect and also in promoting and encouraging clinical pharmacists to have a voice and establish themselves centrally in our new NHS.

Nina is fun to work with and caries the utmost respect from her peers.
